Primary Purpose
Plans, develops, coordinates, and manages additions and modifications to company gas and electric facilities from Applicant Final Submittal date (AFS) through close out of project. Plans, leads, manages, directs and controls all aspects of a defined project. Aligns and holds all stakeholders and all responsible parties accountable to the project and on time, on budget in compliance completion. Concurrently works on up to 10 or more active projects of low to moderate complexity and less than $150,000 in gross capital spend.This is the first of 3 levels of PM Planner. The secondary purpose of this position is to practice professional/technical skills, gain experience planning and managing progressively more complex projects through work and with coaching from experienced project management planners, project managers and supervisors.Duties and Responsibilities
Works with and is the primary contact for property owners, developers, general contractors, architects, municipalities and other customers on all matters related to their projects, and to confirm and detail their project goals, needs and expectations. Uses applicable project management methodology and templates to prepare construction orders and other project documents with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that comply with company policies, including business accounting controls, and governmental rules and regulations. Analyzes customer service load data and meter locations. Communicates design details in conformance with company standards and government regulations. Conducts field investigations, as required. Seeks assistance of experienced planners to analyze the feasibility of additions and modifications to gas and electric facilities.
Applies established strategies to meet customer construction schedules from conception to completion to install distribution energy systems and services. Engages with or escalates to more experienced planners and supervisors to provide answers to complex issues. Applies and communicates specialized knowledge related to the planning of distribution energy systems and services and the tariffs and regulations controlling the design and construction of services. Works with supervisor to manage cost and schedules of assigned projects.
Tracks, reports and forecasts project and financial progress and results with established tools, timing and methods appropriate for the project.
With guidance from more experienced planners and supervisors and applying established approaches, negotiates agreements and cost responsibilities in compliance with company policies, and governmental rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications:
2 years - experience in a role with comparable responsibilities, activities and tasks/duties requiring substantially the same levels of functional knowledge or skills to perform.
Requires a valid State of California Driver License. Required to operate company or personal vehicles to attend business meetings, field investigations or support C&O Centers with storm restoration related activities.
Work assignments will be Century Park (San Diego). Candidate must be able and willing to work at any of the above work locations or various C&O Districts within the SDG&E service territory.
Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office two to three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree/ 4 years formal, post secondary education or equivalent.
Degree and study in an area related to the work as a planner/project manager.
Project or construction management certification or equivalent.
