The HR Senior Group Product Manager will lead the Enterprise Services HR Operations and Technology teams to partner with SDG&E, SoCal Gas, Corporate Center, and Sempra Infrastructure stakeholders as we build the HR platforms of the future. It will drive the HR Technology Strategy, HR Experience, Process Optimization, and Technology Modernization. Provide unified Roadmaps and establish an HR Governance structure for alignment.
The Senior Group Product Manager leads a collection of product groups that comprise a critical strategic component of a Value Stream or an Enabler (i.e., an organization within IT comprised of a set of interrelated capabilities that deliver a critical area of value to the business and its customers). Provides oversight to Group Product Owners and Product Owners, to drive the definition of the strategic roadmap, vision, and prioritization of the product based on value for the customer or enterprise. Takes full responsibility for a subset of groups within the Value Stream and holds the authority to direct the product group work for multiple groups. Uses significant experience and expertise within the functional area that they oversee and contributes an understanding of the market, customer needs, and requirements, and the products and/or capabilities to inform direction and prioritization for a critical strategic body of work.Meets frequently with executive stakeholders to determine group objectives and strategies and drive innovation through products or services. Provides oversight to maintenance and operations of products within their groups, ensuring adherence to relevant safety & compliance, regulatory, cybersecurity, and legal standards. Manages and provides oversight of respective Group Product Owners and Product Owners as it relates to people development, career coaching, and performance feedback responsibilities.This position is a high-level strategic and technical manager role, limited to no more than 4 incumbents enterprise-wide in the position at any time. This position will report to a Director or higher level position and must have one or more people managers (BM2 or BM3) directly reporting to it.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Defines and communicates strategy, roadmap, and vision across teams and groups, setting objectives for a 6-12 month time horizon, and advising executive-level leadership on a long-term strategy for their area of expertise. Communicates this vision to senior stakeholders, executive-level leadership, Group Product Owners, and Product Owners. Identifies key outcomes to meet stakeholder needs with an eye toward innovation and continuous improvement.
Manages complex needs across multiple businesses and IT groups, responsible for a solution or capability that spans the work of multiple groups and teams. Ensures all groups under their direction are delivering measurable value. Leads quarterly planning and roadmaps for strategic technology initiatives that span groups and teams. Proactively champions new delivery opportunities, collaborating with stakeholders.
Manages key executive relationships to maintain a pipeline of work, understanding how the needs of various disparate stakeholders impact the work of groups and teams under their direction, and assisting with prioritization and strategic direction.
Owns product delivery and value creation for a group of products, overseeing prioritization of epics, features, and stories, and driving the delivery of business value. An epic is a high-priority significant technology solution that can be broken down into several smaller stories and features to be worked on by agile teams. Engages with clients to understand their needs and inform delivery. Maintains clear features and epics to drive teams' direction and alignment.
Advises Group Product Owners to resolve complex conflicting priorities and design choices that have an impact across the product groups they oversee. Signs off on the completion of epics within the groups they oversee, ensuring that it meets the needs of the end-user. Communicates the value of a suite of products and their work plans. Facilitates feedback loops for teams on behalf of the clients. Provides feedback to Product Owners and Group Product Owners on work completed.
Participates as a key stakeholder in multiple Big Room Planning meetings as needed to advise groups on strategic priorities for their area of responsibility. Proactively provides feedback to Product Owners and Group Product Owners for continuous alignment and improvement.
Leads feature and epic refinement, prioritization, and quarterly planning across groups and teams. Shapes the strategic direction of groups and teams under their direction, working to drive value-based prioritization where an evaluation of intangibles and balancing of the needs of multiple high-level stakeholders is required. Works with Value Stream and Enabler Owners to shape the direction of the body of work in their remit, including the definition and prioritization of epics and features.
Responsible for Project/Contract/Vendor approval up to $500,000.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
10 years - of progressive experience in software development, project or product delivery, product management, IT and/or business operations, or technology management and leadership. Must include significant experience as a manager of people and oversight over high-level, strategic projects and programs. Proven experience delivering high-profile projects and products in a fast-paced environment.
3 years - of related experience as a lead, supervisor, or in an equivalent position.
Financial Acumen - Strong financial acumen, including the ability to accurately report spending in the IT function and an understanding of both CapEx and OpEx budgets.
Product Management - Strong product management skills, including an ability to communicate and inspire product vision, strategy, and roadmap, apply unique business insights, prioritize work to be completed, and make sound decisions aligned with business goals.
Stakeholder Management - Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders (including clients) to drive outcomes and create alignment around a vision or course of action.
Communication for Technical Leadership - Ability to communicate technical ideas and strategies effectively to non-technical audiences, including executive leadership, via multiple mediums (e.g., written communications, verbal communications, presentations, etc).
Technology Trends - Demonstrates a strong understanding of emerging trends in the technology landscape, including new technologies, processes, and ways of working. Able to determine the impact of technological advancement on the company's systems, applications, infrastructure, and practices.
Business Functional Knowledge - Knowledge and understanding of the business context, market, and operational functions of the operating company, and the wider utility industry.
Value Realization - Strong ability to identify the benefits provided by a proposed user story or feature relative to the effort that it will require from the team to drive the effective prioritization of work to maximize the benefits delivered by the team to the customer.
Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office two to three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.

Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years - of experience working within the energy sector or with a utility.
Agile Scrum, Product Owner, or Scrum Master certifications such as Certified Product Owner Certification or Certified Scrum Master Certification.
User Experience - Strong understanding of how users will interact with systems, applications, and products, with an ability to design applications and interfaces that are consumable and easy to navigate.
Agile Methodologies - Knowledge of concepts, including Agile Scrum and/or Kanban, and application of Agile methodology (e.g., Lean, SAFe, LeSS) for project management to be able to design, implement and manage projects. Advanced
Agile Tools - Knowledge of Agile Tools, such as Azure, Jira, etc.
Automation and Security Concepts - Knowledge of Automation and Security Concepts (e.g., test automation, code coverage, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, etc.).
