Pinnacle Scholarships Investing in the STEM Leaders of Tomorrow | Athena is a California-based, non -profit 501(c)(6) institution with a long-standing tradition of serving the STEM economy as the connective tissue for professional women’s leadership development. In order to support young aspiring leaders, however, the Athena Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and annually awards 5 scholarships to high school seniors from San Diego County that are pursuing degrees in the STEM fields. Chosen from hundreds of applicants every year, these outstanding young women are awarded merit-based scholarships during Athena’s Pinnacle Awards Gala. Athena has granted over $1,000,000 through this Scholarship Fund.

Athena Foundation Board Leadership

The Athena Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors composed of STEM leaders committed to nurturing and supporting the next generation of women leaders in science, math, and technology. The Board establishes the fundraising strategy, maintains the integrity of the Scholarship Awards and ensures that recipients are supported in their pursuit and passion for STEM. A representative of the Foundation serves on the Athena Board of Directors, which oversees Athena Foundation activities. The Athena Foundation partners with the San Diego Foundation to manage the distribution of these scholarship funds.
