Athena On Boards is a comprehensive 5-month workshop series designed to prepare women in STEM for impactful boardroom roles. Our program equips participants with essential strategies and insights while fostering collaborations with corporations seeking diverse, qualified board candidates. With over 200 graduates, Athena on Boards is a proven launchpad for board leadership.

Program Structure:

Participants are grouped into smaller cohorts of 4-6 women, each led by an experienced female executive mentor. These cohorts meet regularly to:

• Craft a Compelling Board Bio: Develop a biography that highlights your governance capabilities and unique value to target companies.

• Refine Your Boardroom Pitch: Articulate and practice your boardroom value proposition with peers and mentors.

• Activate Your Network: Strategize and execute a plan to communicate your board aspirations and leverage your professional connections.

• Each participant completes an application detailing their board interests, target sectors, and other relevant information to facilitate tailored mentor group assignments. These mentor-led cohorts convene during alternate months of the main workshops.

Workshop Breakdown:

• Workshop 1 | Board Readiness: An introduction to Athena on Boards: A legal overview of board roles and responsibilities; Insights into the corporate landscape and boardroom compliance

• Workshop 2 | Securing a Board Seat: Strategies for landing a board position; Anecdotes and experiences from women in our community who have successfully joined boards

• Workshop 3 | Excelling as a Board Member & Engaging Board Members as a CEO: Best practices for effective board service; Guidance on engaging with board members from a CEO's perspective
