#TheAthenaEffect Being Felt Throughout the San Diego STEM community and Beyond

March 27, 2019 - Athena has been announced as a “Commitment to Diversity” finalist for the Xconomy Awards San Diego. The inaugural event will celebrate the people, companies, and organizations that make San Diego’s life science, healthtech, and medical device communities so innovative.

"It is impossible to build a strong and sustainable innovation community without drawing on the talents and perspectives of people with diverse backgrounds. The Commitment to Diversity award recognizes people, companies, and organizations that are demonstrating a real commitment to building a diverse and inclusive life sciences community,” the Xconomy website described in its call for nominations.

The panel of judges for the honors include Eric Topol, executive vice president at The Scripps Research Institute; Susan Tousi, senior vice president of product development at Illumina; and Kim Kamdar, a partner at Domain Associates. You can see all of the finalists in 9 categories here.

Winners will be announced at an Awards Gala on May 29 at 7pm at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, San Diego.
