Everyone at some point has experienced levels of stress and anxiety in their work and personal lives. The Covid-19 endemic has certainly exacerbated the situation further impacting even our mental health by nearly 40%. The Anxiety and Depression Association of America reported that persistent, excessive, and irrational anxiety that interferes with everyday functioning is often an indication of an anxiety disorder.
In this new era of mindful living, mindfulness is defined as a moment-to-moment awareness of one’s experience, without judgment. It is a state and not a trait. The data shows that a lack of mindfulness presents a disconnected employee operating on autopilot. In the absence of self-awareness, organization, and intentionality towards one’s mental health, employees are not only stunting growth potential but instituting a continuous cycle of detachment.
