Positively Triggered: How to Transform Interpersonal Conflict into Confidence & Collaboration

We can all get emotionally triggered at work. For you, it might happen by being interrupted while you're presenting at a meeting, discovering you missed out on a promotion, having your brilliant idea ignored, or something that upsets you. When you're triggered, powerful feelings arise, like hurt, anger, and anxiousness -- and feel the impulse to do things like frantically fix the situation, run and hide, or angrily lash out.

When a trigger arises, what if you could use that moment positively? What if you could transform that stress and tension to rapidly feel more powerful and resilient and even use that moment as an opportunity to build collaboration?

If becoming more positively responsive under pressure sounds good to you, join us for a pilot workshop to boost your personal agility in the face of interpersonal pressures.

Athena is pleased to bring you this pilot workshop with Dr. Susan Bernstein, Executive Coach & Leadership Consultant, on November 3 at 9 AM (PDT) at the Deloitte Offices.

In this pilot workshop, you will:

  • Learn a framework to help you quickly diagnose what's happening in conflict situations and increase your ability to generate greater collaboration.
  • Explore ways to shift from interpersonal attacks and judgments towards understanding and problem-solving.
  • Experience simple, yet powerful practices that will help you to stay present, resourceful, and flexible when others confront you with challenging energy.
  • Discover how to cultivate visible confidence from the inside out -- integrating mental, emotional, and physical intelligence -- to increase your credibility and collaborative abilities.
  • Experiment with experiential activities, designed to increase your agility to handle difficult emotionally-charged situations at work, and generate states of connected confidence with others.

Athena is partnering with Dr. Susan Bernstein to pilot this powerful workshop. A leading San Francisco tech company was her first pilot group, and you'll get to experience a refined version. Our vision is to create a whole curriculum and a Conflict Shift Clinic to foster better resolution of conflicts, and greater levels of calm, clarity, curiosity confidence, and connection at work.

Dr. Susan Bernstein is an Executive Coach & Leadership Consultant who has been supporting high-achieving professionals to amplify their impact since 2001. She provides expert guidance to mid- to senior-level professionals to help them shift from conflict to collaboration and build cultures of harmony. A veteran of leadership roles at Franklin-Covey, Intel, and Accenture, she knows how to help her clients navigate challenging work situations. Susan earned her MBA at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and her PhD in Somatic Psychology from the Chicago School for Professional Psychology's Santa Barbara campus. You’ll find her innovative thought leadership on caring for the health of your career in publications including FastCompany, Thrive Global, and Psychology Today.

When you sign up the workshop, you'll be sent a link to sign up for a 30-minute one-on-one session with Dr. Susan Bernstein to both share your feedback about the pilot, and to get expert coaching about a work-related conflict or challenge where you'd like guidance.
